A big thank you to Ray Cox from Heber City, who is the Wasatch District Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner, Utah National Parks Council donated this.  He says...

"I created this for a gathering activity for my upcoming roundtable. It is much like the gathering activity for the blue and gold banquet. Only, in this case it is focused around leader training and a little bit on leader awards. The second page is intended to be printed on the back of the first page.  If you think it would be of interest to anybody, you may post it."

How to Use Email to Send Text Messages through your email app to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon

A big thank you to Ray Cox from Heber City, who is the Wasatch District Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner, Utah National Parks Council donated this.

Did you know you can send text messages from your email app?  It is an easy and convenient way to send meeting reminders to the boys' parents.  Messages are delivered individually, not as group texts.  Replies come back to your inbox.  And you can maintain your contact info in one place.  You will need to know the recipients's phone number and wireless carrier (e.g., Verizon or AT&T).  Combine the 10 digit phone number and the carrier's domain, separated by @, to form an email address.  For example, if the recipient's mobile phone number is 801-555-1234 and carrier is Verizon, the "To" address would be 8015551234@vtext.com.

STEM/Nova Program for Cub Scouts STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics ~ talks about the Nova & Supernova Awards also

STEM is part of an initiative the Boy Scouts of America has taken on to encourage the natural curiosity of youth members and their sense of wonder about these fields through existing programs. From archery to welding, Scouts can't help but enjoy the wide range of STEM-related activities. To support this initiative, the BSA developed the Nova Awards program so that youth members have fun and receive recognition for their efforts.

What Are the Nova Awards? The Boy Scouts of America developed the Nova Awards program to excite and expand a sense of wonder in our Scouts.  By  working with  an adult  counselor  or mentor,  the various  modules allow them  to  explore the  basic principles of STEM and discover how fun and fascinating STEM can be. The Supernova awards are offered for those who  enjoy  a  super  challenge.  For  more  information  about  STEM  and  the  Nova  Awards  program,  visit www.scouting.org/stem. Discover how the Nova Awards program helps youth be "Prepared. For Life."

Cub Scout Adventure Pocket Certificate to be given out at Pack Meeting to recognize completed adventures

$

0

The new Cub Scout program contains a series of “adventures” which Cub Scouts (individually and as part of their den) will experience while working on their badge of rank. Once a Cub Scout has completed the six core adventures—including one on “Duty to God” and one of his den’s choosing—he will have earned his badge of rank.

This pocket certificate is given to a Cub Scout in recognition of his completion of an “adventure.”

There are spaces on the card to enter the Scout's name, adventure completed, pack number, date he earned it, Den Leader and Cubmaster signatures. Use this to recognize the Cub Scouts during your monthly pack meeting.

This prints 8 pocket certificates, per page.  These "portrait" cards work well when the boys are saving their cards in the baseball card plastic holders.  Then they are facing the right way as boys look through their card collection.

Campfire Neckerchief Slides for Cub Scouts

$

We were asked by Alpine District to store their files on our website since they do not have access to the place their files were stored anymore.  Here you go!

We made some new neckerchief slides at Roundtable last night.  I love neckerchief slides!  I think they are so fun to wear.  Tonight we made some campfires because the core value this month is Health and Fitness.  That means all things outdoors!  Nothing better than a camp fire to make you think of the great outdoors.

If you are interested, I have made it easy for you to reproduce.  Just print out this PDF on cardstock, cut out 3 different size flames (I even gave you an extra in case you messed up).

Using the back side of the template (so you won't see the pen marks), trace it onto fun foam.

Cut out the fire pieces, turn them over (so you don't see the pen marks), and hot glue them together.  I found these small craft sticks at Hobby Lobby.  They are shorter than regular popsicle sticks, and worked quite well.

For the backs, I like to use 1/2" PVC pipe.  It works great!

Then, you can use whatever you want to decorate it with.  I tried it with glitter glue, and sharpie markers, but I think I might like the plain ones the best.  Good luck!
